How To Create A Rebrandable PDF File
Yay! (jumping up and down in girlish delight) I got a question!
ahem… anyway, here’s it:
Hi Adam,
I’m responding to your call for questions on your blog!
I would like to find out what software do you use to create rebrandable pdf files.
Thanks alot!
Regards,
Calvin
Great question! Because rebrandable pdfs are a great way to drive traffic to your site and boost sales. Plus you offer a really great tool for your affiliates to help market and promote your product.
OK, let’s begin. I use Viral PDF to create my rebrandable pdfs. You can go to viralpdf.com to purchase their software. You need this to create a rebrandable pdf. In fact, when you buy their product, it comes with all the instructions you need on how you can go about creating a rebrandable pdf. But i’ll cover it here also, so you can discover how it’s done.
Once you bought viralpdf, next you’d have to create your pdf. So just whip out your regular word processor and start typing out your report.
Once you’re done typing, now you have to add links in your report to your website. Normally, when you add a link you’d just do a regular link, like www.domain.com, and that’s it. But now because you want ALL your links to be able to be rebranded by an affiliate, you now have to do this part a little bit different.
The reason i say ALL is because you want all your links to be rebranded by your affiliate. You don’t want to have any regular links and cause your affiliate to potentially lose sales because of theses ‘leaks’. So don’t do that and piss your affiliates off. They’re very important people.
So this is how you create a rebrandable link (I’ll use Clickbank aff links as an example).
This is how a normal Clickbank aff link looks like: http://xxxxx.vendor.hop.clickbank.net
The xxxxx being whatever the affiliate’s ID is and vendor being whatever your clickbank ID is you use to sell your product. So now you only want the xxxxx part of the link to be variable and be able to be rebranded by an affiliate.
So when you are creating the link, you do this instead: http://{–clickbank–}.vendor.hop.clickbank.net
This will tell the viralpdf program that {–clickbank–} is part of the link which you want to be rebranded. So now you just use http://{–clickbank–}.vendor.hop.clickbank.net for any part of your report you want linked to your website.
Ok, I hope you got that. So now once your report is all typed out and your links are done properly, you now need to convert it to a pdf. So unless you have adobe (you rich guy…), you can use this free alternative instead – http://convert.neevia.com
Great! Now you’ve created your pdf, you now need to ‘sign’ your pdf with the viralpdf software. You need to do this step to allow your pdf to be rebrandable. Once that’s done, that’s it! You just created your rebrandable pdf.
Now all you need to is to test to see if it works correctly by rebranding the pdf yourself and seeing what happens. If you did all right, then you can start distributing the whole thing.
Of course you can also use viralpdf to rebrand practically anything you want in your pdf, not neccessarily just affiliate links. You can allow regular links and words to be rebranded as well. So it’s all really up to you…
Whew! I hope I explained in a way which made sense to you… but anyway, if you want to have a LIVE example of a rebrandable pdf, you can download mine and see how it’s done:

Keep those questions coming!

Hey Adam,
Yay thanks for the prompt reply!
Haha actually I came across Viral PDF when I did a google search. But was hoping for a more economical alternative (aka FREE).
Seems like there isn’t. Sobz..
Haha thanks alot bro! Appreciate it!
Hi Adam,
There seems to be a little problem in the 1st page of the pdf file.
If you include the (www) and if just so happen that the person has a window space account (like me), the link will not direct you to the clickbank link, but to your windows space link!
Nevertheless, the rest of the links are good without any problem (notice that the rest of the links are without the “www”)
Anyway, thank you Adam. I am a newbie and eager to learn about IM. Specially after hearing about you and Dylan Loh..
When will you make a new post again?! hehe..
