The Super Gifts Contest
We recently ran a short promo for Super Gifts (SG) about a few weeks back. If you’ve not heard about it, it’s a website where you can register for a free account and the proceed on to explore over 900 products and download any of them for free (!).
Sounds great and it is. I signed up for my account and started poking around the site to see if there was any quality stuff. There were some really good products and some really crappy ones, but since all of it’s free, no harm done.
As a member, you too get to list your product on Super Gifts. And since it’s a very high traffic site (Alexa 4,392 as I write this now), there are advantages to putting your product up for a free download. Lots of great exposure and list building opportunities.
So I toddled on and decided to list Adam Khoo’s 7 Steps To Financial Freedom audio CD and 6 Ways To Achieve Anything You Want In Life audio CD just to see how many opt-ins I could get from this site.
And so I left it there to run by itself fo a while. I checked back a few days later to see how my listings were doing and you know what?
ZERO.
*sob* it didn’t work… Until I read the fine (Ok actually, it’s quite big) print that said I needed to refer more people to SG before the community could download my products. oooooohhh..
Ok.. so I needed to refer more people.
So I toddled off to grab my referral link and started to craft my email message to my list about this free place where you could get free stuff. Inside I was thinking ‘Ha! All the kiasu SIngaporeans on my list will love this! muahahhaha!’
Free what… Singaporeans luurve free stuff. Cheap*toot*!
Anyway, I sent the email promo about SG and we started to get referrals. After the first mailing, we got more than 100 people who signed up. Which I thought was pretty cool. And the great part was that now my products are also ‘unlocked’ so I should also be expecting an increase in opt-ins.
Which it did, I got about an extra 5-10 extra opt-ins a day. Not bad at all. I think…
So I was just fiddling around the site when I chanced upon the Top 40 Referrers on SG. I clicked on it and saw my name (Adam Khoo that is..) listed right there as one of the Top 40.
I was thinking ‘Whoa.. that’s fast (and easy).’ And so went up to look at the Top 10 and I thought ‘Hey! That’s not too far off!’
And so I started my devious planning on how I could hit the Top 10 Referrers on SG and grab some of the prizes on offer for being one of the Top 10! muahahhaha!
To cut the long story short, I mailed more promos to my list to remind them of the great giveaway that’s happening on SG.
My subscribers get to know about this great deal that’s happening (without which they wouldn’t have known about in the first place), they get to download great stuff and they don’t have to fork out a single cent! For me and Adam, we just get credited with having more referrals.
And so slowly and surely, the numbers just crept upwards and upwards. And so the final result is this:

No. 7!
Not bad at all. Brett Ingram of MaddenTips fame is just above me.
And so we finished the contest in the Top 10 which felt like a simple mini-victory. I guess I just wanted to see how we did versus other internet marketers out there to see where we stand and based on this, I guess it’s not too bad.
Obviously, not all the real big boys (like John Reese) took part in this contest because if they did, we would be blown away.
But anyway, that’s that.
Right now there’s another SG contest going on again, but I’m not gonna run for that one. Maybe you would like to give it a try?

Hi Adam
I was reading your SuperGift posting and tried to access it. Unfortunately SingNet blocked me off. So sad. Cant see what you posted there.
